Toasted oak and vanilla cream arrive first on the nose, followed by caramel and orange peel; creamy caramel and brown sugar lead the palate, with gentle rye spice, finishing medium with char. Filtered through the Lincoln County Process, at 40% ABV. Jack Daniel's, from Tennessee, is the defining Tennessee whiskey. Before ageing, the raw spirit is filtered drop by drop through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal over three to five days — the Lincoln County Process — giving the whiskey unusual smoothness and legally distinguishing Tennessee whiskey from bourbon.
