Kilchoman Sanaig Islay Single Malt Scotch

Named after a rocky inlet northwest of the distillery, matured in roughly 70:30 Spanish Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks — the sherry adding dried-fruit and spice depth to balance Kilchoman's classic citrus sweetness and peat smoke. Fragrant heather, raisins, pear and orange peel on the nose, with waves of stone fruit and mixed spice and rich peat smoke; ripe plums, red cherries and a hint of citrus on the palate, giving way to rich barbecue peat smoke, toffee, oak and dark chocolate, finishing with mixed fruit, caramel, cinnamon and clove and layers of lasting sweet smoke. Kilchoman is one of Islay's few "farm distilleries" — growing, distilling and bottling entirely on one estate — released in 2016.
