Falcoaria Ribatejo D.O.C Red Wine 2023

Deep red with aromas of black fruit, cassis, dried plum and subtle florals; the palate shows rich fruit flavours balanced by evident oak, with powerful, well-defined tannins. A blend of Castelão, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon, hand-harvested and fermented in temperature-controlled cement vats — in exceptional years, part ferments in traditional cement lagares with foot treading — then aged 12 months in French oak, half new and half used. Falcoaria is Portuguese for "falconry," the favourite sport of the Portuguese royal family three centuries ago; made by Quinta do Casal Branco, founded in 1775 and one of the most celebrated estates in the Tejo region.
